Traill DRAGON’S CUP 2014

Character Building
For the first time in Dragon’s cup history, visiting teams from the Philippines came to participate and compete along with teams from the Japanese Association of Thailand and some notable Thai basketball teams namely, Assumption College Bangkok and Saipanya Rangsit U18 basketball team. These teams provided our boys a challenge, a test that our boys have bravely faced and overcomed.

Our Traill Dragons U18 Basketball Team won the championship against Saipanya Rangsit, an older and more experienced team. Facing a team that is ranked among the top high school teams in Thailand, our young team mostly composed of 15-year old kids, show a lot of heart and player older than their age. They didn’t just beat the opposition once, but have beaten them twice in the said tournament.

Mythical Five Awardees from Traill International School are Kao, Fong and Mike (who was also won the Dragon’s Cup Slam Dunk Contest). The Most Valuable Player Award was given to Bright.

The Traill Junior Dragons U15 Team won their U15 championship match as well. They defeated and dominated Kidzshots Academy Philippines in a very highly physical match. Truly, it was a test of character for the Junior Dragons as the team has to undergo foul troubles from its core players namely Gillian, Plan and Kurt. Also, Mahan suffered an injury early in the second half. But the team of Coach Joe Nlepe stood up to the challenge as OB and Guitar provided quality points and minutes giving the team a much needed lift.

Kurt, Plan and Gillian (who also won the Dragon’s Cup 3-point Shootout) were selected in the U15 Mythical Five. Kurt and Gillian were named as co-MVP ( Most Valuable Player) of the tournament.

The Traill Teen Dragons U13 Team won the silver but they didn’t give up until the final buzzer. They gave Kidzshots Academy Philippines one big fight. The Teen Dragons showed better teamwork and passing game in their finals match. The players are very proud for this accomplishment.

Ben and Prime were selected in the Mythical Five together with other players from Kidzshots Academy Philippines.

Mr. Robert Traill and Mr. Gordon Espley-Jones graced the awards ceremony.

The Dragon’s Cup was a successful tournament. We would like to thank all the parents, students and staff who supported this event.
